Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad came from a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with her siblings to Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. At the time, there wasn't electricity. Ryder, who was an avid reader aged 12, became a bookworm because Ryder did not have access to television. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12. In 1986 she landed her first major-screen appearance in the film Lucas she was only 15 years old. Ryder was bullied at her high school. Ryder hoped her acting career would change the way she dealt with bullying. However, it didn't come to pass. But she continued to pursue her dreams. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her debut big breakthrough. Ryder continued playing characters that made a splash in several movies. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
