Nancy Wilson, a jazz musician and three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Ohio, Chillicothe on 20 February 1937 to Olden Wilson, an ironworker who had been employed for a considerable period as housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was only child of six. Nancy was a child who listened to records from her father as well as his love for music. Her agent heard her speak at The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she then signed her contract. within a month of her arrival in New York City. Her debut on the recording stage came in the year 1960, with the single "Girls" after she signed a deal with Capitol records. Guess Who? Capitol Records issued five Nancy Wilson albums over a time span of 2 years. Adderley helped her move away from R&B and to focus on the torch and jazz genres. The 1962 group collaboration of Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley led her to the top and her breakthrough smash Tell Me the Truth in 1963. The following year, she received an invitation to perform at New York's Coconut Grove, the most prestigious night club in America.
