Nancy Wilson is a Grammy Award award-winning jazz musician. She was born the 20th of February, 1937 in Chillicothe OH to Olden Wilson who was a worker in an ironworks, and Lillian Ryan, a former domestic employee. Nancy is the eldest of six siblings. Nancy was extremely influenced when she was a young girl by the music that her father was a fan of and played when she was at his home. As young as 4years old, Nancy was aware her destiny was to be a performer. Her talents were developed through singing in the choir of her church. Following her win in a talent show in a television show around the age of 15, she began to appear regularly on Skyline Melodies, while still at high school. The first time she recorded was with the Rusty Bryants Carolyn Club Big Band, with whom she performed between 1956 and 1958. Nancy released her debut recording via Dot Records during the time she spent with this group. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she move to New York so as to increase her chances of success. In 1959 Nancy made the move in The Big Town. Her agent heard her speak at The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. Within a month after her arrival at New York City.
